Open XETK ECU interfaces support calibration of hybrid drives
THE CHALLENGE
GM’s first generation hybrid electric powertrain MC system used numerous ETK high-speed ECU interfaces, resulting in significant system complexity and cost.
THE SOLUTION
The ETAS XETK is based on open industry standards: XCP and Ethernet. This enables an XETK to connect directly to a PC’s Ethernet port without any additional hardware required.
THE BENEFIT
Since fewer hardware components are required in an XETK-based system, its deployment, as compared with traditional ETK-based systems, reduces system cost and complexity while increasing performance. Faster raster capability enables high-speed measurement for electric motors. Also, multiple XETKs (for the multiple ECUs in a hybrid powertrain) can be easily connected into one system, resulting in all of the measurement data being completely time-synchronized. This enables distributed control functions to be more easily calibrated and measured.
