ES611 – A/D Module with Sensor Supply

ES611

The ES611 is equipped with 8 A/D measurement channels providing sensor excitation voltage. A smart cabling concept enables to handle power supply and measurement with only one cable.

Each of the 8 channels provides a positive and a negative excitation voltage, both freely configurable in the range of 0 V to 15 V. Combined with a maximum output current of 50 mA, virtually any type of passive or active sensor can be optimally supported. The sensor catalog in the INCA Hardware Configuration covers common automotive sensors. This catalog can easily be extended with XML-files containing all necessary information for a convenient sensor configuration. Manual configuration is supported by INCA providing all suitable options and plausibility checks. To facilitate error prevention, the application of excitation voltage only takes place when measurement is running and is indicated to the user at all times. Functional errors are immediately detected and indicated to the user at the module and within INCA. All channels are protected against short-circuiting to avoid damage to the system. Every input signal passes through a Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter with sharp roll-off characteristics. Its corner frequency can be set automatically, according to the desired sampling rate of the signal, in order to avoid any artificial signals resulting from aliasing effects. Additionally, the user can set the corner frequency independently to suppress undesired signal frequencies or noise and allow an oversampling operation.
