ECU & Bus Interface Modules and Boards

The calibration engineer‘s ability to measure and calibrate an ECU‘s control and diagnostic parameters depends on reliable access to that ECU. The modular ECU and Bus Interface Boards and the compact ECU and Bus Interface Modules from ETAS provide interfaces for connecting the K-Line, CAN, and FlexRay serial buses as well as USB and the ETK ECU Interface to the INCA application running on a host PC.

Applications
The ECU and Bus Interfaces are designed for the calibration of assemblies. They communicate with
ECUs and monitor signals on the vehicle buses. The number of internal ECU parameters and signals increases dramatically with each new generation of complex ECUs. When it comes to the acquisition of a large number of signals, the ETK is the optimum ECU interface. To satisfy more moderate performance requirements, serial calibration protocols like the ASAM-specified CAN Calibration Protocol (CCP) or its successor, the Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol (XCP) – which is specified for various physical layers – are often implemented on the development ECUs. The calibration of production ECUs is done on the CAN or K-Line diagnostic interface via a diagnostic protocol such as KWP2000. Signal monitoring on vehicle buses like CAN or FlexRay complements both testing applications and assembly calibration. Measurements acquired by the ECU and Bus Interfaces from the ECU, the CAN, or FlexRay bus are synchronized by INCA with the analog measurements.

Benefits
All ECU and Bus Interfaces are integrated within INCA. INCA provides simultaneous support for the acquisition of ECU and vehicle bus signals via different modules. The synchronization of the ECU and bus measurements with all other data sources within INCA enables causal analysis as well as error tracking within an investigated system.
