Measurement and ECU calibration

What it does:
The measurement and calibration tool INCA provides all the equipment necessary to work with your ECU. Even as your tasks become increasingly complex, INCA will handle them. The core system supports simultaneous measurements and calibrations. The integrated tools allow you to evaluate your measured data, program the control unit flash and manage the calibration data. And INCA is all you'll need.

Why you need it:
While INCA is intuitive and easy to operate, it is also a powerful and specialized tool tailored specifically to meet the demands of the automotive industry. With INCA, all measuring and calibration tasks for fine-tuning ECUs can be handled simultaneously, conveniently, and efficiently. At the test bench or in the vehicle, whether it is analysis of measured data or administration of parameter sets – you will always work with the same INCA you are familiar with. INCA is your best choice for reducing costs and increasing efficiency..

INCA proves its usefulness every day at a variety of workplaces and under the most diverse requirements. Here is a brief look at major INCA features:

  • The experiment environment is the control center for all calibration activities in the vehicle, at the test bench, lab or office. It provides numerous displays and editors, and enables access to all measurement and calibration data of several ECUs or measuring devices.
  • The calibration editor for curves and maps provides fast access to the calibration data via table view, and a good overview through the concurrently running graphical representation.
  • The process point history highlights the cells of maps and curves that were used by the ECU while running a test drive, and are thus validated or proofed. A graphical representation of this history enables you to check how extensive specific areas of the characteristics where used, and to differentiate between more and less relevant or important parts of the characteristics.
  • INCA allows simultaneous access to several ECUs and measuring devices, and supports various protocols and physical layers for accessing the ECU via parallel (ETK) or serial communications. The advanced XCP protocol is supported on CAN and USB.
  • In the final phases of calibration projects, INCA supports quality relevant documentation by logging all calibration activities.
  • To provide a visualization of the measurement data as the system responds to the performed calibration, INCA enables the recording of calibration activities. During data analysis, these calibrations are displayed along with the measured data.
  • Using INCA to dispatch CAN messages enables you to actively influence the CAN network in the vehicle, and to stimulate its ECUs. The simultaneous measurement of several ECU data on the CAN bus and of data supplied by analog measuring devices documents the system response to those events. Sending out the messages on measurement start and stop lets you activate and configure external CAN based sensors.
  • INCA provides powerful interfaces to other applications, letting you run automated scripts that achieve significant time savings in comparison with manual processing. Once processes are set up and tested, the use of script files produces more reliable and repeatable data. The INCA COM interface provides your MS Windows® application with full access to ECU and measuring devices, and supports all measuring and calibration activities. INCA and MATLAB®  team up beautifully to a highly sophisticated autocalibration system which provides finished governor calibrations in a fraction of the usual time.
  • The Measured Data Analyzer is the tool to work with the data recorded in the vehicle or at the test bench. It displays the progression of the physical values, along with their analysis in the oscilloscope. Fast access to the measurement data is provided by the physical value display whenever the mouse pointer touches a curve. High-power analyses are supported by statistical evaluations. Synchronizing activities in several analysis windows make quick work of complex configurations.
Ensuring printer output of the analysis windows in accordance with your needs, the flexibly configurable printing utility supports you in documenting the results of your measurements.
  • Within the Calibration Data Manager, differences in calibrations of several data sets are quickly found with the use of the Compare feature. A copy function transfers calibration data between projects to collect data from different sources.
The new Immediate processing mode allows you to browse through the calibration variables, and to view the values and differences instantly. A preview window shows the complete information of the selected variables on demand. Filter functions enable you to reduce the list of displayed values to those that interest you the most. Finally, you have the option to document the data resulting from the calibration phase in list form.
