AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System Architecture) is a development partnership of major auto industry OEMs and suppliers, as well as tool and software vendors worldwide. The goal of the partnership, founded in mid 2003, is to establish a standard for the software architecture of vehicle electronics.
Today, special efforts need to be expended when integrating software components from different vendors in a vehicle project comprising networks, ECUs and different software architectures. This clearly limits the reuse of automotive embedded software and requires extra work for providing the required fully functional, tested and qualified software.
