At the world’s third-largest 24-hour endurance race in Belgium’s Ardennes Mountains, the ETAS-sponsored Porsche 911 GT3 R captured second place in the overall standing.

The race by night: Manthey’s Porsche is in the lead.

The blue ETAS logo was highly visible on the Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of the Manthey team in its traditional lime-green livery. It also appeared on the coveralls of Porsche factory drivers Marc Lieb, Richard Lietz, and Patrick Pilet.

Although their vehicle, the Porsche 911 GT3 R, had looked like the possible winner for the longest time, it lost precious time due to an unfortunately timed refueling stop and a drive-through penalty for early passing. However, the seasoned driving trio would not be deterred in their joy about having captured second place in the 24-hour race featuring the largest GT3 starting grid. Richard Lietz having made second place in Spa for the third time calls the result a good surprise: “After the qualifying, we had not expected to be able to mix it up with the guys in the lead, but in the actual race, we did manage to stay close to the winner.”

This year’s Total 24 Hours of Spa was plagued by changeable weather conditions. Luckily, there was no need for a weather-related interruption, as was the case during the 24 Hours at the Nürburgring in May this year, which had been red-flagged for nine hours due to rain. Stephan Rott, ETAS Sales Account Manager, views the 24-hour races held in 2013 from the company’s vantage point: “It was a truly great season for the ETAS-sponsored vehicles. We are excited to see that our brand name has become so recognizable in motor sports.”
