ETAS-Elektrobit partnership

A fully integrated ADAS software foundation for Linux-based systems

ETAS and Elektrobit have combined their expertise to deliver a fully integrated ADAS software foundation for Linux-based systems. The solution combines EB corbos Linux for Safety Applications, a key component of Elektrobit’s scalable software-defined vehicle platform, with the ADAS profile of the ETAS Vehicle Software Platform Suite.

Your challenges

Enabling deterministic behavior for ADAS on Linux

ADAS functions depend on reliable, predictable behavior and efficient data handling across modern automotive compute platforms.

Extending Linux-based systems toward ASIL B

Existing Linux environments need an appropriate safety concept to support ADAS applications—without forcing development teams to replace their established stack.

Streamlining the path from pilot to production

Avoid sourcing system components separately; a pre-integrated foundation reduces validation complexity and ensures a smooth, incremental transition from prototype to series.

Avoiding closed-stack lock-in

Automotive organizations need the integration benefits of a coordinated software foundation while retaining the freedom to evolve their software, hardware, and supplier landscape over time.

Our integrated solution – A coordinated foundation for ADAS on Linux

ADAS systems require deterministic behavior, highly efficient processing of large volumes of data, and a robust functional-safety concept. At the same time, OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers need the flexibility to retain established Linux environments, development workflows, and long-term architectural freedom.

The ETAS and Elektrobit ADAS software foundation enables customers to extend existing Linux-based systems toward ASIL B. By combining Elektrobit’s safety-enabled Linux capabilities with ETAS’ automotive-grade, deterministic middleware in a pre-integrated and tested setup, the joint solution reduces integration and validation effort while helping customers move more efficiently from early evaluation to automotive-ready deployment.

Unlike proprietary, closed operating-system stacks, the integrated foundation preserves openness, replaceability, and supplier choice. Customers gain the benefits of a coordinated platform without having to rebuild their Linux stack or close their architecture.

  • Elektrobit’s EB corbos Linux for Safety Applications: Elektrobit provides a safety-enabled Linux solution that supports the extension of Linux-based environments toward ASIL B. Its safety-monitor concept can be deployed on Linux-based systems, allowing customers to build on established Linux setups and developer workflows.
  • ETAS Vehicle Software Platform Suite – ADAS Profile: ETAS contributes the ADAS profile of its Vehicle Software Platform Suite, providing series-proven automotive middleware capabilities for deterministic communication and efficient data handling in ADAS applications.
  • Pre-integrated and tested software foundation: The operating-system and middleware components are delivered in a coordinated setup. This minimizes integration effort and reduces the risk associated with combining individually sourced components.
  • A clear transition path to automotive readiness: Customers can integrate the foundation into current software stacks and vehicle programs for early production evaluations and pilots, then transition incrementally to an automotive-ready version of the combined stack as their program matures.
  • Open and scalable platform approach: The solution provides an open alternative to proprietary, closed operating systems for ADAS foundational platforms. It is compatible with most modern Armv9-A Cortex-based platforms, supporting scalable implementation across vehicle programs.

Your benefits

Linux for ADAS without closing your architecture

Benefit from a safety-enabled Linux and automotive middleware foundation while preserving openness, replaceability, and long-term architectural freedom.

Lower integration and validation overhead

Use pre-integrated and tested operating-system and middleware components instead of managing the risks and effort of individual component integration.

Fast path from evaluation to automotive readiness

Start with pilots and early production evaluations using existing software stacks, then transition seamlessly as ADAS programs mature.

Safety enablement without rebuilding your Linux stack

Extend established Linux-based systems toward ASIL B while retaining the tools, workflows, and development expertise your teams already use.

Deterministic, automotive-grade middleware

Support ADAS functions with reliable, deterministic communication and efficient handling of high data volumes.

Competitive total cost of ownership over the vehicle lifecycle

Avoid unnecessary proprietary dependencies, reduce future re-integration effort, and retain supplier choice across software and hardware generations.

Scalable, hardware-agnostic ADAS foundation

Standardize on a common software foundation and scale ADAS implementations across the vehicle ecosystem without creating a tight hardware dependency.

Proven expertise from two automotive software leaders

Benefit from Elektrobit’s safety-enabled Linux capabilities and ETAS’ automotive middleware expertise. Both partners contribute components with ASIL-B experience in series-production programs
