Bring domain fusion to life on existing ECUs

As vehicle functions move toward centralized compute architectures and domain boundaries such as chassis and powertrain continue to merge, engineering teams need a practical way to integrate, test, and validate cross-domain functionality long before the final target hardware is available. ETAS EHOOKS makes it possible to extend existing ECU software at binary level, so engineers can add new functions without access to the original source code or a full rebuild of the supplier software. The added functionality can be created in Simulink, ASCET, or handwritten C-code and integrated directly into the executable running on the ECU. This gives teams a controlled way to prototype cross-domain functions on current hardware, even when the final central ECU, HPC, or VCU is not yet available.

Once the new function is inserted, ETAS INCA supports calibration, measurement, and validation on the target ECU. That means teams can test interactions between existing and newly added software in a familiar workflow, validate migration concepts early, and build evidence for future software fusion strategies before committing to the final architecture. In one customer reference, this approach reduced software adaptation cycles from weeks to hours, illustrating the value of faster, more independent iteration.
