Minister of Economics visits ETAS in Bochum

Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, Minister for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), paid a visit to ETAS headquarters in Bochum. The minister learned about the importance of vehicle cybersecurity in the face of increasingly connected and automated mobility.

ETAS's management gave NRW Economics Minister Andreas Pinkwart, Bochum state parliament member Prof. Dr. Karsten Rudolph and Benedikt Knust, specialist for cybersecurity at the NRW Economics Ministry, an insight into the company's current development including the construction of the new "ETAS Home" development center in Bochum. Furthermore, the central topic of the exchange of ideas was the high relevance of holistic protection of future highly connected vehicles, vehicle fleets and traffic infrastructure.
The minister praised ETAS as an outstanding example of a company that has grown from a small start-up to a global player in the field of automotive security during the development of Bochum into the European competence center for IT security in Europe. Helping to shape and promote the transformation to connected and autonomous driving with cybersecurity in mind is of high importance, he said.
"For us, it's good to know that policymakers are keeping an eye on the issue. After all, securing tomorrow's mobility is also a social responsibility," said Dr. Uwe Müller, Vice President Cybersecurity Solutions for ETAS. "We would be pleased if politics support innovations and structural developments in this field even more actively in the future."
