Engine-in-the-Loop – integration of combustion engine and HiL simulation
At Vienna Technical University’s Institute for Powertrains and Automotive Technology (IFA), operating strategies for hybrid vehicles are successfully validated by means of linking an engine test bench with an ETAS LABCAR-based Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) system.
CHALLENGE
The large number and variety of projects carried out at the Institute for Powertrains and Automotive Technology at Vienna Technical University call for a powerful and versatile testing system whose physical setup can be quickly and easily changed to suit specific applications.
SOLUTION
The Institute for Powertrains and Automotive Technology at Vienna Technical University has commissioned a LABCAR-based HiL system which covers a broad spectrum of applications – thanks to LABCAR's modular set-upand open interfaces.
BENEFIT
The LABCAR HiL system serves as the interface to the simulation of hybrid powertrain components. It provides thereal-time connectivity for a real-world internal combustion engine. As a sizeable benefit, the minimum setup times for additional projects should be emphasized.
