ETAS AUTOSAR runtime platform for new NXP SoC accelerates software-defined vehicle development
Stuttgart, January 09, 2026 – ETAS’ RTA-CAR automotive runtime platform is now available for the NXP® Semiconductors’ new S32N7 super-integration processor series for the intelligent vehicle core, enabling OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to deliver high-performance, safety-critical real-time software on one of the industry's most advanced vehicle computers. The combination brings together ETAS' production-proven, high-performance, low-footprint, real-time RTA-CAR AUTOSAR technology with NXP's scalable, power-efficient and AI-capable solution, supporting the transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
This milestone follows over 12 months of close collaboration between ETAS, NXP, and leading Tier 1 partners.
Faster time-to-market and reduced risk
The parallelized software and hardware development of RTA-CAR support for NXP’s S32N7 enables customers to start deploying ETAS' class-leading AUTOSAR solution on the latest silicon. This integrated approach shortens project lead times and significantly reduces program risk, allowing automotive manufacturers to bring new features to market more quickly.
A foundation for high-performance, safe, and secure vehicles
The collaboration provides a robust and efficient foundation for developing modern vehicle systems. Key highlights include:
- Predictable real-time performance: The solution brings RTA-CAR's RTA-OS real-time operating system, the smallest and fastest AUTOSAR OS in the world, to the S32N7 multicore architecture to deliver predictable behavior under load.
- Safety-ready foundation: RTA-CAR is designed for safety-critical applications, supporting ISO 26262 up to ASIL-D deployments on the S32N7.
- Scalable and secure compute: The platform offers seamless support for multicore and partitioned workloads, helping teams consolidate functions from domain/zonal control to central compute. Alignment with NXP hardware security features supports secure boot, secure updates, and robust separation of critical software components.
Driving the future of automotive software
"Automotive software teams are under intense pressure to deliver more features, faster, without compromising safety or performance,” said Darren Buttle, Chief Product Manager, ETAS. “By bringing RTA-CAR to NXP’s S32N7, we're extending our support at-time foundation for SDV programs—so customers can move from prototype to series production with confidence."
“We’re pleased to see ETAS’ RTA-CAR platform optimized for our new S32N7 processor series”, said Joe Nguyen, Senior Director, Automotive Processors at NXP. “This collaboration combines NXP’s high-performance hardware with ETAS’ proven AUTOSAR technology, helping automakers accelerate innovation and deliver advanced, safe and secure software-defined vehicles.”
