Release of Eclipse S-CORE v0.6.0
The Eclipse SDV Working Group has released Eclipse S-CORE v0.6.0, marking the third major milestone for the open-source automotive middleware platform. ETAS contributed significantly to this achievement.
ETAS is proud to play a pivotal role in the Eclipse S-CORE (Eclipse Safe Open Vehicle Core) project. In this new release, we contributed essential code for Lifecycle and Health Management capabilities. We also delivered significant contributions across multiple critical areas, including project management, process definition, infrastructure development, and toolchain implementation – all aimed at ensuring S-CORE meets the demanding requirements of real-world automotive applications.
Leveraging its extensive experience in safety-critical software platforms, ETAS has been instrumental in shaping both the technical excellence and practical applicability of S-CORE throughout the automotive industry.
What's New in v0.6.0
Full dual-language support for C++ and Rust: S-CORE now offers equal support for C++ and Rust, with 5 modules featuring Rust APIs and integration of the Ferrocene safety-critical Rust toolchain.
Platform expansion – two major new modules added:
- Baselibs Rust – Foundation utilities for Rust development
- Lifecycle & Health Management – Launch Manager and Health Monitoring for robust process supervision
Enhanced capabilities:
- Rust backends for Persistency, Communication, and Logging
- Interactive example menu and score_starter helper for streamlined developer experience
- Full CI/CD automation with unified Bazel module
- Documentation of executed unit tests and static analysis
Matured infrastructure:
- Comprehensive S-CORE Handbook with tutorials
- Enhanced ISO 26262, ISO 21434, and ASPICE 4.0 process compliance
- Updates for QNX, Red Hat AutoSD, and Elektrobit corbos Linux for Safety Applications integration
With this milestone, Eclipse S-CORE becomes even more robust, flexible, and aligned with the requirements of modern automotive software development.
