Meet Hongyu Qi

Hongyu’s career is rooted in curiosity and a passion for problem-solving. She describes her role as the technical bridge between customers and product development. Her most memorable project involved assisting an OEM in implementing high-frequency and huge amount of calibration data collection on a brand new chip. The challenge was significant: the chip was brand new, functionalities were unfamiliar, and a complex ecosystem of multiple vendors existed. Hongyu’s team tackled this by borrowing a development board, diving deep into technical details, training the customer’s engineering team, and engaging in technical discussions with other vendors. This hands-on approach ensured the project's success within a short timeline.

Beyond project work, Hongyu is deeply involved in fostering team spirit and knowledge-sharing. Her team’s collaborative spirit, described as "supportive, open, and solution-driven," is evident in their weekly knowledge-sharing coffee sessions where "no problem is too big or too small to discuss." They even have a running gag: "It’s not a bug – it’s a feature demonstration opportunity." Being based in Shanghai offers a unique advantage, fostering unparalleled proximity to key automotive OEMs and suppliers, ensuring agile responses and a deep, localized understanding of the rapidly evolving mobility landscape. This local expertise proved critical when adapting ETAS tools to specific regional testing and homologation standards.Hongyu sees huge potential in the rise of software-defined vehicles, a future she is helping to shape. Her team is currently pushing boundaries in scalable data workflows for extensive fleet calibration and validation environments. What excites her most is the chance to turn AI and automation into practical tools that help engineers everywhere work faster and smarter, fundamentally shaping the future of safer, more efficient mobility.
