Prototyping of Simulink® models in the vehicle

The INTECRIO-RLINK product data model shows the combination options of INTECRIO-RLINK with other software and hardware products for efficient prototyping.

With the ETAS INTECRIO-RLINK prototyping blockset*, Simulink® models can be easily and rapidly tested in the vehicle. The ETAS prototyping hardware can be configured directly within the Simulink® environment.

INTECRIO-RLINK enables users to carry out all the steps required to generate executable prototypes directly within Simulink®. The prototyping blockset supports the complete configuration of the various ETAS prototyping targets, including the definition of bypass interfaces, sensor signals, and actuator signals.

Combining the function model with a real-time operating system means it is practically executed with the same run-time behavior as on the target ECU, enabling comparable and informative validation results to be obtained.

INTECRIO-RLINK supports all the ETAS prototyping hardware products and virtual prototyping on the PC.

All within Simulink® and INCA

With INTECRIO-RLINK, function developers can perform all the steps required to generate executable prototypes directly within Simulink®. The prototyping blockset supports the complete configuration of the various ETAS prototyping targets, including the definition of bypass interfaces, sensor signals, and actuator signals and the generation of code for the prototyping target.

Additionally, INTECRIO-RLINK integrates a real-time operating system into the function model. This allows the individual tasks to be executed in the same order and with practically the same run-time behavior as on the target ECU. Due to the realistic execution, it is possible to generate very informative validation results.

The complete electronic control system of the vehicle can be validated and calibrated in the vehicle using ETAS INCA and the INCA-EIP (Experimental Target Integration Package) add-on. It can synchronously measure signals from function prototypes and ECUs as well as from the vehicle environment. This enables all the measurement data to be evaluated in its temporal context.

Prototyping targets

Example of an ETAS prototyping system: A control function modeled in Simulink® is executed on the ES910 module. The ES910 module is connected to an ECU via the ETK bypass interface.

To satisfy a wide range of different application requirements, ETAS offers various prototyping targets suitable for in-vehicle use. INTECRIO-RLINK supports all of them.

The compact hardware modules of the ES900 product family provide the complete range of prototyping functions while requiring minimum space. The ES930 Multi-I/O Module and all the other ES4xx/ES63x modules are supported as well. The modular hardware of the ES800 family can be used for the validation, calibration and prototyping of powerful ECUs. The connection to the ECU is established via the ETK or XETK interface.

Finally, in the simplest case, a Windows PC can be used directly to execute the prototype if virtual execution without a connection to physical hardware with real-time requirements is possible. When executed on a PC, a faster execution speed can be selected to finish experiments more quickly.

Model integration

INTECRIO-RLINK is fully compatible with the INTECRIO-IP integrated prototyping environment. Thanks to a convenient model transfer feature, models created with INTECRIO-RLINK can be easily reused there together with ETAS ASCET models, AUTOSAR software components, and C code modules.

* Blockset is the term for add-ons in the Simulink® environment
