How ETAS supports the journey towards the SDV

Interview with Mariella Minutolo at Auto Shanghai 2025

Mariella Minutolo, ETAS Executive Vice President Sales, recently participated in a Gasgoo Tech Talk at Auto Shanghai 2025, outlining the company's commitment to supporting the Chinese automotive industry's transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs). Minutolo emphasized ETAS's role in empowering leading Chinese OEMs with solutions tailored to the unique dynamics of this rapidly evolving market.

A key focus of the discussion was the ETAS Vehicle Software Platform Suite, including its AUTOSAR solutions. This scalable and unified framework streamlines vehicle system integration and management, reducing complexity and enhancing compatibility. These benefits results in shorter development cycles, decreased costs, and faster time-to-market for software and AI-defined vehicles, without compromising reliability and safety.

Improved development efficiency and product safety

Minutolo also highlighted three major trends shaping the automotive landscape: the move towards centralized E/E architectures, the decoupling of hardware and software, and the increasing integration of AI. ETAS addresses these shifts by providing solutions that prioritize performance, flexibility, and functional safety. The company's tools enable efficient development in virtual environments, leveraging the same production basic software used in physical vehicles, thus improving both development efficiency and product safety.

Recognizing the unique pace of technological adoption in the Chinese market, ETAS is prioritizing "local for local" and "local for global" initiatives. Minutolo cited a recent successful collaboration with a leading Chinese startup car maker as a prime example. This project saw ETAS's local team, backed by global expertise, deliver a cutting-edge AUTOSAR Classic multicore solution.

Collaboration with Chinese partners

Looking ahead, ETAS plans to further strengthen its core platform by unifying AUTOSAR Classic and Adaptive support, simplifying development complexity. The company is also deepening its collaborations with local partners like ThunderSoft, Horizon Robotics, and Semidrive TMC (Ziguang). Furthermore, ETAS is integrating AI and cloud interfaces into its software platform, paving the way for future innovation.
