Efficient vehicle endurance testing: a drive recorder for high-bandwidth ECU internal data

The ETAS INCA Data Logger is a software-based, headless logging solution that runs on a standard Car PC and enables high-bandwidth recording of internal ECU data. Unlike conventional data loggers that primarily capture bus and Ethernet communication, it also records ECU internal data while reusing existing INCA experiments, configurations, and workflows. By seamlessly extending established ETAS development processes into vehicle validation, the INCA Data Logger enables automated measurement campaigns and long-duration recordings without requiring dedicated proprietary logging hardware. Validation teams can capture internal ECU data, vehicle networks, sensors, and external measurement sources in a single integrated environment and analyze the results directly within the familiar ETAS measurement and calibration ecosystem.

The INCA Data Logger is a software-based application that runs directly on a standard Car PC and enables automated data acquisition using existing INCA experiments and configurations. Validation teams can either deploy the software on existing vehicle PCs or use a fully validated hardware-and-software bundle. The solution captures data from a wide range of vehicle interfaces, including ECU access technologies, vehicle networks, sensors, and external measurement devices. Unlike conventional data loggers, it also supports high-bandwidth recording of internal ECU data. A dedicated user interface allows operators to monitor key measurements and control recordings.
